Aleksandra Ciążyńska: Finding Beauty in the Details of Everyday Life

Discover the artistic world of the curator of “Invite Me to Your World”, where architectural details, diverse subjects, and a passion for painting come together.
For some artists, inspiration begins with a dramatic landscape or an extraordinary scene. For Aleksandra Ciążyńska, it can begin with something much quieter: an entrance to a building, an architectural detail, or a familiar fragment of everyday life that most people pass without a second glance.
Born in Poland in 1987, Aleksandra knew from an early age that art would become more than a hobby. Although her professional background is in economics, painting gradually became her true artistic path—a way of communicating beyond words and discovering new ways of seeing the world.
Her artistic journey has taken her work beyond Poland, with exhibitions in Italy, France, Austria, China, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and other countries. Along the way, she has continued to develop her skills under the guidance of Professor Paweł Lewandowski-Palle and has received recognition in national and international competitions.
Yet her artistic identity is not defined by a single subject. Instead, it is shaped by curiosity, diversity, and a lasting fascination with the details that give the world its individual character.
An Artist Drawn to the Diversity of the World
Aleksandra’s artistic practice moves between different subjects and visual experiences. Flower meadows, Venetian masks, and architectural elements may seem to belong to separate worlds, but they share a common thread: the artist’s attentive eye and her desire to discover what makes each subject unique.
As she explains: “Art is my great passion which I try to develop every day.”
For Aleksandra, painting is not simply a finished product or a skill acquired over time. It is an ongoing process of learning, observation, and discovery. Every new subject offers an opportunity to notice something previously overlooked, to explore the relationships between forms and colours, and to see familiar surroundings from a different perspective.
She describes art as “an eternal learning” that teaches us to pay attention to things that might otherwise remain imperceptible. This idea lies at the heart of her practice: looking carefully is not merely a technical exercise, but a way of engaging more deeply with the world.
“Invitations”: A Closer Look at the Familiar
Among Aleksandra’s recent projects, the “Invitations” series has captured her imagination in a particularly compelling way. In these works, architectural entrances and overlooked details become subjects worthy of sustained attention. Rather than treating them as incidental elements of the urban environment, the artist invites viewers to stop and consider their forms, proportions, colours, and character.
The series also offers a revealing insight into her artistic personality. Aleksandra openly acknowledges her fascination with detail, describing it as something that accompanies her regardless of what she paints. She often chooses larger canvases, allowing her to pursue that attention to detail with particular care.
Works such as “Invitiation – Sagrada Familia,” “Invitiation – Casa Mila Barcelona,” and “Invitiation – M Spagna Rome III” bring this interest into dialogue with recognisable architectural settings. Their titles evoke places with distinct identities, while the series itself reflects the artist’s interest in the details that make a place memorable.
The word “invitation” acquires an additional meaning here. These paintings invite us not only to look at a building or a particular entrance, but also to reconsider the act of looking itself. What do we notice when we slow down? What might a familiar place reveal when we give it our full attention? For Aleksandra, the answer begins with curiosity.
Beauty Is Often Closer Than We Think
Aleksandra’s approach resonates with a broader idea about the relationship between art and everyday experience: beauty does not always require an extraordinary setting. Sometimes, it emerges from the way we choose to observe the ordinary.
Her artist statement expresses this belief through a reflection on the transformative power of art: “It allows you to discover yourself, look into the recesses of the soul and constantly finds new faces.”
This perspective connects the external world with an inner journey. A doorway, a flower meadow, or a Venetian mask can become more than a visual subject; it can become a starting point for personal interpretation, memory, and emotion.
Aleksandra also draws inspiration from the words of Henri Matisse, expressing the hope that her paintings might offer viewers a moment of peace and quiet. This aspiration adds another dimension to her attention to detail: looking closely can become a way of slowing down, stepping away from the rush of everyday life, and finding a moment of stillness.
Her artistic achievements include a Curator’s Award for “Warsaw” in the exhibition “Sounds of Colors” in 2021 and another Curator’s Award for “Don't go” in “The Beauty of Ordinary Things” in 2023, alongside several Honorable Mentions. These recognitions reflect a practice that continues to evolve while remaining attentive to the beauty and individuality of the subjects she chooses.
From the Artist’s World to the Curator’s Invitation
Aleksandra Ciążyńska’s interest in the diversity of artistic expression also informs her role as curator of the upcoming exhibition “Invite Me to Your World” at People & Paintings Gallery.
The exhibition brings her artistic philosophy into a conversation with other artists. If her own paintings reveal the details, places, and subjects that capture her attention, the exhibition asks other creators to share the elements that define their individual artistic identities.
In her invitation to participants, Aleksandra asks: “I'm curious what your world looks like.”
She encourages artists to reflect on what connects their work. Is it a recurring theme, a particular technique, a distinctive detail, or the source of inspiration behind their creative process?
These questions make the exhibition more than an opportunity to display artworks. They invite artists to share something of their individual perspectives and allow viewers to encounter a variety of creative worlds.
